Welcome aboard-We are officially full. I'm glad that was quick. Let's use March 13 as an auction start date. Again, it's probably as LATE as we can start this league. Still, it could come with a better sense of value through Spring Training battles and injuries.
-
Hey all, I took over Krushers. I'll make my cuts soon after I look at the team. I'll give the obligatory 'anyone is available for trade' up front. I've played Otto for a while. I have 3 (now 4) teams going now. Looking forward to turning this team around and joining the league!
-
Welcome to our new owner-I believe you get one round of cuts, but I noticed you only cut Bauer...if you were unaware of this rule, please let me know and I can manually cut players for you.
Post March 13 could work-that would probably be the last possible day to begin in order to complete the auction by opening day.
-
Would prefer a later draft date if possible, post 3/13. Thanks.
-
Have 2 available spots in the league. Posted on the Ottoneu message board-hopefully someone (other than Big Papi) decides to join. In the meantime, let's think about auction dates-hoping for after Super Bowl/beginning of Spring Training. Perhaps March 1?
-
Ha! I'll wait until tomorrow before I boot them from the league. Then I'll work on replacements-trying to avoid Big Papi.
-
neither have logged in since May; bigpapi can't wait
-
Currently the Krushers and Troops are the only two teams that have not yet met these two qualifications.
-
Reminder: Cuts are due by the end of the day tomorrow (Tuesday, 1/31). It is also the due date for the $20 Ottoneu fee. I will assume that if cuts are not made and payment has not been received by Ottoneu, the owner no longer wishes to participate. At that time, I will search for a new owner for any team not meeting those two requirements. Please DM me if you have any specific questions.
-
Welcome to the league!
-
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Jim, been playing ottoneu for 5+ years and I know a few of you from one of my other leagues. I like to trade, although I'm not big on prospects. Send me a message or a trade proposal and I'll try to get back to you.
-
Yep, coming back
-
I am not going to be back this season.
-
Thanks for those confirming their participation for 2023. Roster cuts are due by 1/31.
-
I will be back
-
I'll be back
-
Ok. Thanks for letting me know.
-
I won’t be back. Please drop me.
-
Yes- I will be back for more
-
Happy New Year everyone! With the keeper deadline approaching at the end of the month, can each of the owners give your intentions on staying on for the 2023 season? I'll make Sunday, Jan 28 as the deadline for these decisions to be shared.
-
For the time being, I'm going to remain on as commissioner. My 2022 summer was super busy, and I simply didn't have a lot of time to dedicate to Ottoneu, much less to being a commish. I'm going to reflect on it and make a decision based on my time later this month. I promised myself more baseball in 2023-we'll see how I feel.
-
Arbitration begins Sat 10/15. Please take advantage of an important part of the league calendar. If you plan on NOT returning for the 2023 season, I request either abandoning your team prior to arbitration so we can find a replacement owner. It's not a HUGE deal if you arb than abandon...it's the next best scenario. Better than not participating at all. Nevertheless, good luck to everyone.
-
Congrats to the Champ
-
Great season all! Think we have some issues to clean up but hopefully everyone will be back and ready to go for next year!
-
Congrats on the big championship trophy! That was quite the push at the end of the season. To all that placed, congrats as well. I hope to dust off my former champion self and make a push in 2023.
-
Nice win, Holy Owned. We'll try again next year
-
Well damn Tyler, this is a bit awkward. It seems you have lost the lead.
-
As a reminder: Trade Deadline is Wednesday, August 31.
-
Well, that was sure something to wake up to
-
Tyler, buddy. You should have never picked those players up if you didn’t have a clear pathway or plan to drop players. Absolute abuse of the rules. I expect swift action. You’re in big trouble if this isn’t fixed. It’s been an obscure amount of hours plus some.
-
Tyler…. C’mon, pal. It’s not very becoming of you to make me have to send all these complaints and about your complaint that you seem to not have to adhere to. I’ve thought long and hard about cutting down on leagues. Your actions are going to make my decision easier. It’s a real shame because team is the best and will continue to be the best.
-
Complain away my man, the league is what we decide it is. I expected a level of competition here that was shown to be false. No harm no foul, it happens. I fought for the league I wanted this to be, even if it is a casual $20 league, because I like the competition I find here. The league felt differently and I can't fault anyone for that.
And if anyone else wants some young players or prospects from my roster hit me up, I won't be using them so they will go to the highest bidder.
-
Tyler, pal. What was all this “spirit of the rule” chatter? Now I have to complain about you complaining. I swear to god I’ll quit.
-
Hey buddy, I have a plan. I'll be legal at some point. My lineup is set for days so I have time to think everything through and not make the wrong move. I don't want to drop someone I would want if someone goes on the 60 day IL tomorrow or the day after or the day after that or the day after that. Gotta see how it plays out. Bummer I can't bid on the new auctions though.
-
Tyler, buddy. Your roster still isn’t legal and I’m worried about that undefined rule. Don’t make me complain to the commissioner. I paid $20 for this league and I don’t want my fun ruined.
-
Tyler- listen here pal. I will expect your roster to be legal soon.
-
Tyler. Buddy. Come on. It’s been an obscure amount of hours and those players need to be dropped.
-
Now Tyler… don’t make me throw a fit and threaten to quit the league. You know the rules, pal. Get to dropping those players.
-
I think you’re doing a bang up job, commish.
The dude in first threatening to quit is the funniest part of the conversation.
Appreciate the entertainment.
-
Let’s all just move on and respect the rules from now on. Thanks to commish for getting this done.
-
Thanks for what you do Shot - I've been a commissioner before, it is a thankless job. Sorry for causing such a commotion.
-
I try to keep this place light because it’s a nice distraction from the bs of every day life. I don’t factor to have to measure my professional acumen in the way I handle things. I made more than multiple
DMs to Chance that will remain private in order to make sure he understood the consequences of these actions. In the end, the issue figured itself out…and I do believe his team has been severely damaged for the season…and possibly into next. In the end, Harper was probably not worth this.
-
This is supposed to be my escape from adulting bullshit not a reminder of more adulting bullshit. Sorry for my tone right now- the situation was bad from the start and only became worse-still, looking at the depletion in Chance’s roster should be enough for anyone to realize this was a foolish gamble. Now it’s turned into idle threats of quitting or tearing down and a suggestion I’m not doing my job well enough. That I won’t stand for-
-
Dude…I’m not being paid to refresh my internet browser all day to check and double check the roster compliance of a $20 league where no one is winning anything other than a trophy icon on a webpage. I have a friggin’ life with responsibilities and stuff. You even admitted that once I picked up the two players on waivers the line up would be fine. If you don’t like how I’m running things, you take it on-see how that factors in with your worldview. This issue has been settled. Move on.

*on the roster
-
And claims on Ruiz and Pratto will get him under the cap finally. But again, the fact that he was able to employ this strategy of hoping others remove those cap hits for him is completely against the spirit of the rules in place.
I had the 2nd place bid originally and the 2nd waiver claim on Harper and had a clear plan to be compliant with one round of cuts of 3 players.
I'm fine missing out on Harper, I'm only in disagreement about the strategy taken to get him on the
-
I only stated my intentions of not continuing next year to let owners know I'm like a GM that has to make the playoffs or get fired, my young players mean almost nothing to me right now as I'm focused on this year.
-
And Not Hot Mess is a rebuilding team in last place that can easily add MLB players if we really want to enforce that. They're not trying to sneak a player on the roster for the rest of this season and going forward.
-
The fact is you should have been compliant after a single round of cuts after acquiring the player that put you over. Your strategy of slowly releasing players hoping others will take their cap hits off your ledger is clearly in violation of the spirit of the rules. Your roster may be depleted now but you'll be able to pick up replacements soon enough and then likely after that get to enjoy the services of the player you skirted the rules for and likely next year as well.
-
Please take care of it or I’ll do the deed on my end. We’ve been more than patient.
