April 20, 2024 1:50 AM : Montgomery (1-0) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks over six innings against the Giants. He struck out three.
Analysis: Montgomery looked sharp in his season debut, and the left-hander wasn't even in peak form as his fastball averaged 93.3 mph, down 1.7 mph from last year. Given that Montgomery signed with Arizona on March 29, it's understandable he still has some work to do to get fully up to speed. His next start is scheduled to come at home against his former team, the Cardinals.
