I see a lot of comps of Strasburg for Skenes. But, he reminds me more of Roger Clemens coming out of Texas.
-
Can you imagine the nerves that Skenes has? I am sure he will settle in and do fine.
-
Scott is really good! Are you watching Skenes? His command isn't quite there, but his stuff is electric.

Watching Christian Scott (1.1 - 3K)

I refer to it as Justin Steele Day, but yes, watching it.
-
Happy Skenes Day! Anybody else watching his start?

Yes, the 60 day IL gives you the roster spot back but you have to carry the salary on your cap.
For players who are out for significant time or for the rest of the season, you need to make the choice of whether to carry that player for possible benefits next year. For example, if you have a cheap Shane McClanahan because he went for less is the auction due to his injury, you might want to hold him for the year so you get him at a cheap salary next year when he could return to his ac

I am still working on understanding the roster rules for our league. If a player is on the 60-day IL, I only get an extra roster spot, but no relief in my salary cap? If this is correct, then for players like Wade Miley, who is about to have TJ surgery, there is no reason to keep him on my roster for 2024, as his salary of $5 will count against my cap? TIA for answering my question.

I will be running late. Mom has a flat about 8 miles down the road. Please don't get mad, I can't help it. I look forward to our season. See ya soon...

To *SAY HEY KIDS* and *HEY COW HOLY HEY*
USA adopt daylight saving time starting from Sunday March 10, in advance of your own country (March 29 in Israel, March 31 in UK as in Italy).
So usual gap in hours on March 17 will be one hour less than usual: it means that in UK auction will start at 4.00 PM when (at me in Italy it will be 5.00 PM and) in Isralel at 6.00 PM.
-
Thanks Commish. Looking forward to it!
-
Happy with time - think it’s 5pm here in the UK 😃

This works great for me over here in Israel! I don't have to wake up in middle of the night for once. Thanks!!

Auction date of March 17, 12 pm EDT, is great for me.

I don't believe there is time to complete a slow draft.
-
Thank you to everyone for their input. As previously mentioned, if I did not receive date and time from you, I've assumed you are good with all possible dates and times. Given the input received, the draft date is Sunday, March 17 at 6 a.m. Eastern/9 a.m. Pacific. I realize the time is different than the noon option I mentioned, but hopefully everyone can be flexible enough to adjust form a 9 a.m. Eastern/noon Pacific start time to the 6 a.m. Eastern/9 a.m. Pacific time.
-
And now...? If we need a slow draft, we need to start as soon as...!?
-
Not crazy about slow drafts, but if we can't find a time that works for everyone I suppose that's the way to go.

The slow drafts I’ve done have run on a 24hr nomination cycle with a 12hr reset if someone is outbid. They are active 24hr a day, which accommodates all time zones pretty well.
-
I had sent this directly to the Commish a few days ago but it looks like we're posting here: I can do noon PDT on March 9,10,16,17 and 5pm PDT on March 6, 8, & 15. I'm also open to a slow draft but agree it could be tricky for those overseas for the times that the slow draft would be active.
-
I have never done a slow draft, but I don't consider this fact relevant. In any case, I believe it is very important to set the right time interval to ensure that the difference in time zones does not have an impact.
-
I like the idea of a slow auction.

Would we consider doing a slow draft?

10 and 16 March are out for me

My only off day is Sundays. I do get 1 Saturday a month and can check to see when that is tomorrow. Sundays would be great.

I consider that friday 5 PST is saturday at me (2am). Not the better choice, but I'd make it working.
-
As for Saturday, I have no time problems (no problems to start after 2pm EST, I can sleep during sunday).
On Sunday I would have trouble starting after 2pm EST as I need to wake up early on monday.
Sunday 10th march is the only day I can't be with you, but Sons of Pitches already said the same for that day.
-
I will do whatever time and day is agreed upon.
-
I can do March 2, 9, 16 at noon PST, or March 1, 8, 15 at 5pm PST.

I cannot make March 8-12 work, as I go to my college team conference tourney. I will try to make any other date work. Thank you for understanding.
-
Monday thru Friday during daytime hours will be almost impossible for me. I work night shifts from 9:30p to 6:30a, I'm up all night, sleep all day like that old Slaughter song. Weekends, I can adjust my sleep time a little better with Sundays the more favorable day for me.

Everyone, please send me a direct message detailing the dates/times you can make it and I'll see what works best. Please send them to me by February 9. If I do not hear from you, I will assume you are good with all possible dates/times. This is always a difficult process so please be as flexible as possible. Thank you in advance!
-
As an alternative, Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays at 5 pm Pacific time could also work but I understand that may mean for a late night for those who do not reside in the USA. But those dates would include March 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, and 15 prior to the March 20 start of the season that would leave time for FA pickups.
-
Hi everybody...ok, so here comes the hardest part of the season -- finding an auction date and time that works for everyone living across multiple time zones. Season starts early this year on March 20, so we need to have the auction completed in time to allow teams to make FA bids and pickups prior to March 20. So, I'm going to propose noon Pacific time on either March 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 (all Saturdays/Sundays).
-
Waiting for spring trainings, we should start to make programs for draft. I think it will take some time to complete as we are in search of 160 players. Please remember that I live in Italy where time is "CET": this means East Standard Time + 6. Thank you.
-
Reminder....All teams must be renewed ($20.) and under salary cap by 1/31.
-
That is awesome EC. Love it.
-
Love it! Spice up the hot stove.

I got a total of 7 trade offers, all of them were great offers. I had noticed on the Trade Blocks that many teams had high salary players listed to trade. I had cap space available and figured why not. I moved 7 of my players away and took on 6 players. I listed all the offers on a spread sheet with projections and the positions of the players, and plotted out cap space to determine who I can afford. It's a risky strategy, but I took over a team near the bottom of last year's standings.

For the sake of transparency, I think I can take on two high salary players. I have three offers so far, but I would entertain more offers. I plan to take as many offers as I can for a couple of days, evaluate them, and try to fit in two of them in my budget and line-up. As a Reds fan, I wouldn't trade away a Reds player, but any Reds coming my way would be welcomed.
